Rasoi is an Indian restaurant located in a converted gas station in Denton near the UNT campus. It's a super small place but has plenty of seating inside and out. If you decide to eat there, there is a big screen TV playing Indian TV nonstop. They also have all the usual trappings of a convenience store, including energy drinks and candy, as well as a small Indian market where you can buy hard-to-find ingredients.

The food is great and super cheap. You can leave full for under $5, but you should splurge and get some samosas too. Their menu changes daily, but they always have plenty of vegan options. Ususally I just tell them that I'm vegan and they just load up a Styrofoam to-go box with a crazy amount of awesome food. I also always get the samosas, because how can you not? There is usually some kind of bean dish, some kind of potato dish and a few other things. It's always been amazing and this is my favorite place to go in Denton.

If you're not familiar with the area, it's pretty uppity and fancy, but the food here is good enough to weather the bullshit. It's not super expensive, but you can easily rack up a big bill here if you order a whole bunch of different stuff. It's pretty much always packed and if you're coming on a weekend you'll probably have to wait for a table.

They have a lot of vegan stuff on the menu which is mostly standard Mediterranean food. The hummus and falafel are some of the best I've ever had anywhere and their rice is drenched in olive oil, which makes it awesome. The reason we usually come here is for the buffet though. It's during lunch on weekdays and it includes everything they have on the menu, but it's not cheap ($12). They have a spinach dish and mixed vegetables which are really good, and something called Zattar Bread, which is a pita bread with thyme crushed into it and it's super good. Only bummer here is that the baba ganouj isn't vegan because it has yogurt.

They have a lot of vegetarian and vegan stuff that is clearly noted on their menu. It's a little bit of a yuppie place and it has a bar too. For being pretty inexpensive, the crowd is a little uppity. All in all it's not a bad place to eat at, but the service is a little inconsistent.

I'm gonna start with the stuff that's good. Their hummus and babaganouj is pretty good, but they have a dip called muhammara that has walnuts and roasted peppers that's really awesome. Their fries are really good too. They also have something I call the "Vegan Double Down" that's called a Mezza Burger. It's a sandwich filled with hummus, lettuce, tomatoes and turnips with a falafel bun. So no bread, just two HUGE pieces of falafel. It's only $8 and it comes with fries and it's quite a bit of food.

They also have vegan pizza with Daiya cheese. The pizzas only come in two sizes, 10" and 18" and you don't have to pay extra for up to 5 toppings. It's kind of a thin, flaky crust and it's only good about 3/4 of the time. Sometimes they don't let the cheese melt or it's just kinda weird for some reason, but most of the time it's good. We don't go to this place too often, but writing this review is kinda making me wanna go back soon!

Located in the TCU area, this place is drenched in purple and packed with frat bros and sorority girls all the time. It's really loud and always busy. We usually get take out when we eat here, but when we do it's usually not too bad.

Mellow Mushroom is pretty expensive, but it's pretty impressive. You can get any pizza vegan (Daiya cheese, no butter, no parm) and they also do vegan sandwiches. They have a crazy amount of toppings including BBQ Tofu and Tempeh. They also have pretzels that can be made vegan and hummus which is actually pretty good. Be prepared to spend $20+ on a pizza though. They charge extra for Daiya.

So if you're in the mood for splurging and packing away some vegan cheesy pizza this is the place to go, even if it's a little collegey.
